Terms of use

Welcome to Sheez. These terms govern your use of the service, and they are written to be read: plain language, no needless jargon.

• Sheez is for adults only (18 or over).
• The rules fit in one sentence: respect the person in front of you, like in real life.
• Artificial intelligence moderation watches over conversations; violations lead to graduated, appealable sanctions.
• Your conversations remain yours: we do not record them.
• You can delete your account at any time, in two clicks.

1. Who we are, and what Sheez is

Sheez is a video conversation service published and operated by Sheez Ltd, a company established in the United Kingdom ("we"). It randomly connects two people who are online, for a live video and text conversation, in a browser and with nothing to install. By creating an account or using the service, you accept these terms and our privacy policy, which is an integral part of them.

2. Age and access requirements

Sheez is strictly reserved for people aged 18 or over. Your birth date is required at sign-up. Showing a minor on camera, even accompanied, leads to the immediate end of the conversation and the suspension of the account involved.

In all transparency: like almost every comparable service, we do not run identity or criminal background checks on our users. The protections described in section 5 exist precisely for that reason, but they do not replace your own caution: never share personal information with someone you have just met.

3. Your account

• The information you provide at sign-up must be accurate, especially your birth date.
• Your account is personal: you are responsible for what happens with it, keep your credentials to yourself.
• You can delete your account at any time from "My account": it becomes invisible immediately and is permanently deleted 30 days later, unless you sign back in before then.

4. Community rules

These rules apply to every second spent on Sheez, on camera and in the chat alike:

• Respect. No insults, harassment, threats, hate or discrimination of any kind.
• No nudity or sexual content. No violent or shocking content, no weapons on display, no encouragement of self-harm.
• No minors on screen, even accompanied by an adult, even for a few seconds.
• No deception. No spam, scams, advertising, impersonation, or pre-recorded or artificial video in place of your camera.
• No recording. Do not film, record or broadcast a conversation without the other person's explicit consent.
• Nothing illegal. What is forbidden in life is forbidden here too.

If someone breaks these rules in front of you: Report button. The conversation is cut immediately and our team is alerted.

5. Moderation and sanctions

To enforce these rules, conversations are moderated automatically using artificial intelligence, running on our own servers, backed up by reports and by human review. We do not publish how these checks work, so that they cannot be worked around. The data involved and how long we keep it are set out in the privacy policy.

Depending on severity and repetition: the conversation is cut, then a temporary suspension, then permanent exclusion. Concurring reports from several people can also lead to a suspension. A device or connection associated with a suspended account cannot create a new account for the duration of the sanction.

6. Appealing a decision

You can appeal a suspension directly from the app, with the "Appeal" button in the suspension banner. The case is re-examined automatically and then, if needed, by a member of the team. The decision is communicated to you in the app.

7. Your content and your rights

You keep all rights to your image, your voice and your messages. By using Sheez, you grant us only the limited, revocable technical licence needed to transmit your video, voice and messages live to your conversation partner, and to operate the moderation described above. Nothing else: no commercial exploitation, no publication.

8. Our brand and our content

The Sheez name, logo, interface and code are protected. You agree not to copy, extract, decompile or reuse them, and not to access the service through automated means (bots, scripts) without our written consent.

9. Third-party services

Signing in with Google is optional. Video effects and filters are computed in your browser. When a direct connection between two people is impossible, the video transits encrypted through our relay servers. The full list of our providers is in the privacy policy.

10. Availability and changes

We improve Sheez continuously: features may appear, change or disappear. The service is provided "as is", with no guarantee of permanent availability, and we obviously do not guarantee that you will meet any particular person.

11. Responsibilities

Conversations happen live between their participants: we do not record them and cannot guarantee other people's behaviour. You are solely responsible for your interactions. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to damage directly attributable to us; nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

12. Ending the service

You can stop using Sheez and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or close an account for violations of these terms, following the sanctions ladder in section 5, or when the law requires it.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by English law. If you live in the European Union, you keep the mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence. If any clause of these terms were held invalid, the others would remain in force.

14. When these terms change

The date of the current version appears at the top of this page. For significant changes, we inform you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Sheez after that date means accepting the new version.
